Support Available for Rural Businesses to Start-up and Grow
Access to a local business advisor, inspiring events and workshops, an online business support community, unique support for women-led enterprises and funding for specialist advice are all included in an exciting package of business support now available from North Somerset Enterprise Agency to start-up and existing rural businesses based in the Cheddar Valley area.
The fully-subsidised service, which is available to businesses in rural areas of Somerset and Devon has been launched by Heart of the South West Business Support, a South West Local Enterprise Partnership initiative, and will be locally delivered in parts of Sedgemoor, including Blackford, Brent Knoll, Cheddar, East Brent, Lympsham, Mark, Rooksbridge, Shipham and Wedmore by North Somerset Enterprise Agency.
The services aim to help rural businesses improve their marketing and boost sales, identify opportunities to grow, learn practical steps to move the business forward, keep up-to-date with business and technology trends, improve cash flow and manage finances, source appropriate finance options and prioritise plans for the future.
Businesses in rural areas of Sedgemoor will be able to access local and personal advice from North Somerset Enterprise Agency’s experienced and local team who are able to visit businesses at their own premises.
Angela Hicks, Chief Executive of North Somerset Enterprise Agency, says:
“Starting and growing a business is always demanding, but rural businesses often face additional challenges such as a limited local customer base, difficulty in attracting great staff, technology shortfalls and encouraging people to their location amongst others.
“Hence we are delighted to be a partner within an exciting initiative that aims to create a sustainable rural economy. Our team has considerable expertise of supporting rural businesses and as all our advisors are locally-based, they have the advantage of knowing the area and the opportunities that are out there for local businesses. We would urge anyone who is running such a business in the Cheddar Valley area to find out more and see what this initiative can offer them.”
