NSEA supports the creation of 28 businesses and 34 jobs in Q2 of 2015

Twenty-eight new businesses have started up in North Somerset between April and June 2015 with our (NSEA’s) help, leading to the creation of 34 new jobs.

The latest businesses to seek advice and support for a successful launch include a taxi service, an accident repair company, a dog groomer, a stone mason, an illustrator, a childminding service, a graphic design enterprise and a beauty salon.

Whilst vastly different in nature, all the businesses have assured themselves of the best chance of survival by seeking enterprise start-up expertise which, research shows, enhances a business’s likelihood of success.

Of the 37 businesses which started with NSEA’s help twelve months ago, three-quarters are still trading and of the 22 businesses which started three years ago – the timeframe by which businesses are judged to have “survived” successfully – 20 (or 91 per cent) continue to trade.

We offer all of our support and training free of charge or at low cost. We run regular sessions from our training rooms and offices at The Hive, which also offers office space, meeting space and facilities for both start-up and growing businesses.

NSEA Chief Executive Angela Hicks says she is delighted with the latest figures.

“Enterprise creation is good news for us all because it contributes to the local economy and creates local jobs.” she says. “As such it is fantastic to see such an exciting breadth of new businesses opening their doors in North Somerset and taking time to set their businesses up properly to enhance their chances of survival.

“Starting a business is not an easy option. Surviving and thriving in the business world takes commitment, determination and an awful lot of hard work.

“We wish all our new start-ups well – and send congratulations to all those whom, 12 to 36 months down the line, are still working hard to make their businesses a success.

“We welcome anyone who is thinking about starting up a new business, or who is ready to launch, to come and explore how we can help and support them. Our experienced and locally-based team of advisors, who have a wealth of contacts and information at their fingertips, are ready and waiting to help.”
